Love it or not it is Pumpkin Spice season! We always recommend to our juice bars to stick with this trend and incorporate a seasonal juice offering to their customers. We are based in Jupiter, Florida and while we don’t have the seasonal weather change right away, we like to notice the changing seasons with the abundance of spicy and autumnal offerings in our local shops. A healthy and delicious addition to your juice bar menu is sweet potato juice. Sweet potatoes add a texture to the juice, a creaminess that blends well with carrots, oranges, pineapple and other citrus. Sweet potatoes are a greater source of beta carotene than carrots, in addition to being rich in Vitamin, Vitamin C and Vitamin E, they are rich in phytonutrients like quercetin. The sweet potato is also a good source of iron, copper, calcium, potassium as well as folate acid. Providing around 400% of your daily Vitamin A requirements this nutrient dense vegetable will assist in healthy eyes, skin even boost the immune system.
Juicing a sweet potato
You do not have to peel your sweet potato to juice it but you should make sure they are clean. If you are juicing with our Ceado ES-500 or Ceado ES-700 you likely will not have to cut up your sweet potato, depending upon the size of the sweet potato you have chosen for juicing. If you are juicing with our CP-150 Cold Press Juicer you will need to cut the sweet potato into smaller pieces so they fit in the chute. The sweet potato is a thicker juice than you might be used to so while it isn’t necessarily pulpy it does add a bit of extra creaminess to your juice.
Sweet Potato Juice Additions
You can create a juice that is sweet or even a little spicy. Ginger and turmeric can be juiced along with the sweet potatoes if you think your customers will enjoy those flavors. You can sprinkle on top some chia seeds, cinnamon, pumpkin spice or another favorite fall spice blend.
Smoothie Base
The thicker juice also makes a wonderful base for your smoothies. Juice 2 sweet potatoes in your Ceado ES-700. Pour into your blender and add a frozen banana, some spinach, almond milk, and apple and pear for a delicious fall smoothie.
